The Pond

The Site:
This year’s pond is on private property in the northwest part of metro Denver. It’s close to
I-70; 40 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes from the hotel. It’s also close to fast food and a WalMart.

This picture is looking from the pits northwest across the pond and shows the primary battling area. The shoreline is excellent on the east side where the pits and parking will be. The shore and bottom are primarily gravel until the deeper spots in the middle are reached. There is very little moss.

Map and Directions To the Hotel and the Pond

Like Warrensburg, this is a deeper pond than we usually have, so we will have divers present. The descent is gradual all the way across. At approximately 30 ft. from shore the depth is 6 ft. The middle is about 8 ft. This means you should have a float marker attached to your boat. If you are uncomfortable retrieving your ship from water that is over your head (like me) one of our divers will go after it.

Camping is permitted in the pit area if anyone wants to rough it and save on the hotel bill. Small campfires are permitted depending on local drought conditions. There is no power at the pond. Rain in July is rare. Wind will not be a factor. MUCH fewer mosquitoes than at Houston or Minnesota.
