9-3-2010: I LOVE the NEWSLETTER!
Thanks again to the creative writing of our captains and the very hard work of our club editor in fitting it all put together, the Summer Issue of our club newsletter, Task Force 144, is ready for downloading. There is some coverage from the summer National Competition (for those of us loosers who could not attend), some tech articles, and more. It is available in the Members Area (with all the past issues) or you can click HERE

7-25-2010: NATS 2010 Awards
The MWCI National Competition is completed! A week of solid fun battling and the coolest weather of any previous Houston NATS (I never minded the heat - it made retrieving my sunken ship more enjoyable... every time.... ;-) Although the axis were outnumbered and outgunned this year they fought with determination all week long, but the Allied Victory was inevitable. The show-topper this year was the surprise appearance of members of the 501st Star Wars fan club to give the awards:
Axis Admiral Jeff Lide handing over the annual trophy to the Allied Admiral
if Jeff looks nervous...
it is because he knows what happens when you fail the Dark Side...
|
After years of fanatical dedication, Jeff finally meets his idol.... too bad!
"You have FAILED me for the last time, Admiral Jeff!"
|
|
Maybe Jeff should have been more like this guy...
He knows how to have a good time and get along with anybody!
And Congratulations to all the Captains earning awards:

6-2-2010: Battle Mania!
Once again The Tangler at Engler was the highlight of spring battling. Over 20 ships hit the water for seven action packed battles during the weekend. We saw two DDs battle, the little ships were a pain to the big ships all weekend. Our youngest battler, Jason Bray, sank Bob Hoernemann's Most Feared USS Washington with some well placed shots from "Goldy". John Stangle's Scharny had a most beautiful sink; twisting, listing and keeping the bow out of the water as she went down. Kevin Kaminski once again did a great job hosting and even brought the good weather this year. Mark this battle on your calendar next year as a can't miss weekend.
